EVENTS

We're bucking the trend and having a Sunday wedding. We appreciate that Sunday can prove trickier for our guests' busy lives, so to make up for it, we will be scheduling a full weekend of events.

FRIDAY APRIL 8, 2016

UNION STATION HOTEL LOBBY

From 5pm

For those arriving Friday, we will be planning to hold court over casual welcome cocktails in the giant lobby lounge of the Union Station Hotel. It'll be the last pay-your-own-way event, and there are indeed food options at the bar! The couple will be there until at least 10pm or later, so come down and find us any time.

SATURDAY APRIL 9, 2016

WELCOME OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS!

THE ST. LOUIS CITY MUSEUM
750 North 16th Street, St. Louis

6PM

Transportation: If you want to walk over, meet the walking group in the Union Station Lobby at 5:30pm, weather permitting (it's a 13 minute walk). Taxi is an option, and there is parking at the City Museum for those driving.

We can't wait for our guests to get to know each other. We will be hosting a big kick-off pre-wedding party to do just that. And we think we've found a venue worthy of the occasion.

The City Museum is equal parts interactive art project, adult amusement park, and enchanted cavern of mazes. Named one of America's Greatest Public Spaces, it also hosts the world's largest pencil, the world's largest plastic ball pit, and the world's largest pair of underpants (#romantic). The Museum's motto is "explore the unexpected."

All of our guests will have free access to the museum all day; we will provide no shortage of barbeque and surprises all night. Bring your proverbial A-game.

Attire: karaoke-ready spelunking Translation

Bonus Information: To claim your free access at the museum during the day, simply say you're a part of the LoNigro-Butler wedding at the desk and obtain your wristband. There's a catch: don't lose your wristband, you'll need it to get in for the party later. Those going for just the party will receive their wristband on arrival.

SUNDAY APRIL 10, 2016

WEDDING + RECEPTION

THE CARAMEL ROOM at
BISSINGER'S CHOCOLATE FACTORY
1600 N. Broadway, St. Louis

5 PM

Transportation: Free wedding shuttles start from the Union Station Hotel at 4pm sharp. We suggest heading over early as the shuttles may fill up closer to 5pm. Shuttles will return from the Caramel Room starting at 10:30pm; Uber is a great option for those needing to leave earlier.

We are getting married in a Chocolate Factory. Unlike Willy Wonka, we will be admitting more than just five lucky guests. Bring your inner Augustus Gloop please.

Bissinger's has a long tradition dating back to 17th-century France, and has serviced such figures as King Louis XIV, Napoleon Bonaparte, Ludwig of Bavaria, the Rothschilds, and now you. The working factory in St. Louis just recently opened The Caramel Room, an indoor-outdoor venue where we will be conducting our ceremony, dining in whisky-chic style, and dancing into the night.

THINGS TO DO

Bonus Information: We got word that a marathon is being run on Sunday, going right by the hotel and that many streets will be blocked off. The race starts at 7am so it should be clear by mid-afternoon, but allow time to drive around if you plan to see some of the city on both Saturday and Sunday.

The St. Louis Arch

Link

Open 9am-6pm

Discover magnificent views from the top of St. Louis’ Gateway Arch—an iconic monument symbolizing the city’s role as early settlers pioneered westward years ago. See both the history and culture surrounding the city—from 630 feet high in this architectural wonder.

The Arch is a 10 minute drive from the Union Station Hotel. Be sure to check if tickets are needed, as availability is seasonal.

Forest Park

Link

Forest Park, the seventh largest urban park in the United States, is a natural oasis in an urban environment. Located on 1,293 acres in the center of the St. Louis metropolitan area, Forest Park is 450 acres larger than New York City’s Central Park. It contains St. Louis’ major museums – the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Missouri History Museum – as well as the Saint Louis Science Center, Saint Louis Zoo, and The Muny, which is the country’s biggest outdoor theatre. Forest Park is also home to the Jewel Box, a flower conservatory that’s a popular venue for special events.

The Park also hosts "The Best City Golf Course in Mid-America", designed by Hale Irwin.

Forest Park is a 10 minute drive from the Union Station Hotel.

Anheuser-Busch Beer Factory Tours

Link

Open 10am-4pm Saturday, and 11:30am-4pm Sunday

The brewery, opened in 1852 by German immigrant Adolphus Busch, is designated as a National Historic Landmark District. Nestled in the historic Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis, one of the oldest and biggest beer factories in the country chose its location based on its access to the Mississippi River, the large presence of German immigrants in the 1800’s, and the natural cave formations that were used to store beer prior to artificial refrigeration.

Regular free and guided tours are available, as well as two complimentary glasses of beer for visitors of legal drinking age. The brewery is a 10 minute drive from the Union Station Hotel.
